I will be stealing this cake frosting design idea. I can see from here that it would be the best way to doctor the not-so-even-top cake, the not-so-moist cake (just moisten with rum, cointreau, chambord, or any other liqueur of your choice) and the “I don’t have any butter or cream” icing cry. Plus it looks fun.

It does that! But how will you handle the heartbreak when they realize the cake is not, in fact, just a Kit Kat palisade surrounding a huge mass of loose M&Ms? I suppose Smarties would be more Anglophilic, now that I think of it.

I thought the happy booze infusion would look after that problem. I’d lean towards the Smarties, myself, since they don’t have a brand stamped on each and every little one of them.
