Point taken. You are right, but it does not necessarily follow that Mr. Henry is wrong.

Lots of mediocre food sites have delightful photographs. Others have good recipes with bad photographs. Since Mr. Henry’s principal interest is in food as an expression of personality, he concerns himself more with style than with substance.

For this post it seemed to him that the unique taste of gin called up feelings of England and of ages past, hence the image of Henry VIII, that peerless English overeater, and reference to The Tudors, the Showtime drama where over-acting is accomplished with peerless panache.

By the way, Mr. Henry feels compelled to mention the embarrassing fact that “intriguing” has no “e”.
