Gooseberry Pie! Gooseberry bushes abounded in our rural family in my growing-up years; in our late teens, my sister and I would feed good, green gooseberries to our beaus, munching them as we said, "Try them! They're great!" just to watch their faces when they crunched into that unbeatable sourness.

Then one day I handed a handful of gooseberries to a suitor as I munched...to my surprise, this city fellow looked in my hand and said, "Oh! Gooseberries!" and munched along with me.

I married him. ;)

I very much agree on the Haagen-Dasz vanilla. Far superior to any other I've tasted.

On a whim, I offered my guests their choice of a few different types of Haagen-Dasz ice cream bars for dessert at a dinner party a few weeks ago. They were amused by the unorthodox choice, but there were definitely no complaints! The vanilla ice cream bar with dark chocolate exterior was my favorite as a child, is still my favorite, and will probably always be my favorite ice cream bar. So simple, so perfect.
